Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama are the latest couple to call it quits.
Lovato, 23, and Valderrama, 36, both took to social media on Friday evening to release their joint statement. "After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship," it read.
"This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends," the message continued. "We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer & Demi."
No further details regarding their break up have been revealed.
The split comes as a surprise to fans who have been following their relationship since 2010. Lovato often times credited Valderrama for her sobriety and even expressed her sentiments to marry the actor.
"I am very, very in love with him. I think—we will probably wait a little bit longer, but—if he asked tomorrow I would say yes," Lovato told a New Zealand radio station in July 2015.
