Video creatives have long been cutting and rearranging presidential speeches to make the Commander-In-Chief "sing" popular tunes, a phenomenon that was made famous by YouTube account barackdubs. However, a new lip-dub that makes President Donald Trump "belt" Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" didn't sit very well with the British singer-songwriter.
While on Australia's morning show Sunrise, hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch brought the video to Sheeran's attention, who was clearly not impressed.
"Is that going to stop the song being number one now?" Ed said, before asking: "Why did you show that? That's ruined my chances this week."
Whether or not the Trump lip-dup affects his sales or song streams, Sheeran had already made history by becoming the first artist to simultaneously debut on Billboard's Hot 100 top 10 list with "Shape of You" and "Castle On The Hill" at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively. Both songs will appear on his next album ÷ (Divide), out March 3.
