Cardi B Makes History At The 2020 American Music Awards

Despite her absence at Sunday's (November 22) American Music Awards, Cardi B made history, becoming the first artist to ever win Favorite Song in the Rap/Hip Hop category at the AMAs twice.

The 28-year-old rapper, who first earned the award in 2018 for her hit single "Bodak Yellow," took home the trophy on Sunday for her latest single "WAP," featuring Megan thee Stallion. While Cardi wasn't in attendance for the award show, which was held in Los Angeles, she took to Twitter to thank her fans for voting for the track to win.

"Thank you guys soooo much .Me and Meg really appreciate all the love from fans ,celebs everybody that supported the song," she captioned a video of her acceptance speech on Twitter. "Also thanks for voting .Ugh if I would have known all this was going down today I would of rescheduled my dentist appointment.Im so swollen."

For the video speech, which only showed darkness, Cardi went into more detail about her dental work, saying, "I wish I would've known that I was going to get an AMAs or something, I wouldn't have went to the dentist and f***ed with my teeth. Now I'm all f**king talking all crazy. But I just wanted to say thank you everybody. Yeah, thank you. I love you guys so much."

She added, "Thank you all for voting. It really meant so much to me and Megan — the way you all supported us so much and [had] it trending all over the world."
